Principal's Update - March 8, 2020

Tuesday, March 10, 2020 - 2:50pm

Dear Addison Families,

I hope you are enjoying the long weekend.  As a reminder, school will be closed on Monday, March 9th, due to a scheduled PAUSD local holiday.

Last Thursday, I sent a message to the community regarding the coronavirus.  I stated that our District continues to work closely with the CDC, California Department of Health and Human Services, and the Santa Clara County Health Department to obtain the latest informational updates and guidance to keep our communities safe. Also, I listed the precautions Addison is taking to help contain the spread of germs and encouraged families to check the PAUSD Coronavirus webpage and FAQ document for the most up-to-date information you can find from the District. An attachment was included regarding how to talk to kids about the coronavirus and more recently, a physician parent in the community sent me this great comic resource that helps inform students about the virus and teach good hygiene.  On Monday, March 9th, our District Management Team is reconvening to discuss further updates and plans for future school events.  A District message will be emailed to families on Monday evening around 6pm and I will follow up regarding site specific updates including whether we will proceed with the 5th grade Wax Museum Parent Presentation Night on March 11th or our Family Library Night on March 19th.

If you haven’t been to Addison lately, you may have not seen the progress of our new MP Room!  The exterior was painted and outdoor stage door installed.  I spent time in the MP Room last week and was excited to imagine all the great events and assemblies that will take place.  We are still waiting for the large doors leading to the field to be built and the completion of the outdoor stage but we are still on track for a May 2020 opening.

Finally, I wanted to thank Emily Meyer for taking the lead in forming a Design Committee that will consider how and where to add color and graphics on the interior of our new buildings.  She has a background in design and is bringing together different stakeholders for this process.  If you have input or ideas, feel free to email her at
