Principal's Message, March 10, 2019

Sunday, March 10, 2019 - 4:23pm

Dear Addison Families,
I hope you are enjoying this long weekend as we have a local holiday (No School) on Mon, March 11.  Yesterday, my eldest daughter joined me for the first time in a Heart Healthy 5K Race in San Francisco!  It's so much fun to be able to observe and experience our kids' growth as they mature and attempt new things each year.  I look around at the Addison students and am constantly amazed at not only how much they have grown physically this year but also in confidence and skills.

We are now in our 3rd trimester and preparing for exciting things ahead.  Our 5th grade will be busy as they have field trips to the Tech Museum and to the Palo Alto Courthouse this week, and then the following week they will begin the Health Connected Puberty curriculum.  If you are interested in previewing the Health Connected curriculum materials, please talk to Joy or Nancy in the front office.

If you have not had a chance to join us at a PTA or School Site Council (SSC) meeting this year, we'll have both in the next couple weeks!  Our PTA General Meeting is on Tues, March 12 at 6:30pm and Site Council is Wed, March 20 at 3pm. These parent leadership groups will be discussing and planning events (PTA) and site goals (SSC) for 2019-2020.

I am hoping the weather improves the week of March 18thas we will be participating in Walk and Roll Week. Please start making plans to walk, bike, scooter, or carpool that week as we focus on fitness and using environmentally friendly modes of transportation to and from school.

Finally, when we return from Spring Break, we will begin CAASPP testing the week of April 8.  Please see this schedule for 3rd-5th graders so that students attend school on test dates.  Students who are absent will be required to attend make up testing sessions.

Thank you to all the families who joined us at Science Night and Library Night these past two weeks.  There was so much discovery and excitement at these two events, and it was a great way for our community to connect through learning.  Special thanks to all the parent volunteers who made both nights a great success and especially to Sarah Kimball and Ms. Ohanian who organized them.

Fondly,
Amanda Boyce
