Principal's Message, 9/17/2018

Monday, September 17, 2018 - 4:59pm

Dear Addison Families,

Thanks to everyone who attended the Principal's Coffee this past Friday; we had approximately 40 parents representing K-5 families so it was great to connect and hear your thoughts.  The highlights of our conversation included a discussion regarding the proposed construction at 980 Middlefield (old funeral home), our current construction project, how the construction is impacting day-to-day operations, traffic/ safety/ parking, and field trip funds.  Along with the Principal Coffees, I'm always available to hear your thoughts and questions regarding school so feel free to email me or stop me on campus before or after school.

Many exciting programs have begun in the past couple weeks including Dance in Schools for Kindergarten-2nd grade thanks to a partnership with Palo Alto Children's Theater.  Also, our 5th grade Age of Sail overnight field trips are starting this week in San Francisco. Noon activities are in full swing including Playworks games, noon chorus, teaching students the Hoedown Dance in preparation for the event on September 28th, the introduction of big blue building blocks, and the return of Noon Yoga for 4th and 5th graders (see below).  Our new playground space is being utilized well and it's exciting to observe the various opportunities for activities and play!

Our next School Site Council (SSC) Meeting is this Wednesday @ 3pm in the Library.  The agenda can be found by clicking on the event on the Addison Website Calendar or checking the SSC shadow box outside the Library.   After SSC, there is a Neighborhood Community Construction Update meeting in the Library from 5:30-6:30pm. This meeting was originally intended for the larger neighborhood community to specifically update neighbors that don't receive communication from Addison School.  However, all are welcome to join and we will be sharing construction updates and project milestones and taking time for comments and questions.

Have a great week!

Amanda Boyce
