Principal's Message, 4/29/18: Dear Addison Families,

Wednesday, May 9, 2018 - 5:30pm

Thanks for all your support this past week with our Inquiry Fair projects. Projects are required for 4th and 5th graders and optional for Kindergarten- 3rd graders.  The staff and community had a great time last Thursday exploring the various questions and conclusions and it was obvious that students spent a lot of time discovering.

We have an exciting week ahead.  On Monday, students will be singing the National Anthem at the Giants vs. Padres game @ 7:15pm.  Thanks to Joanna Finnis and her team for organizing the rehearsal practices and guiding the students through what is sure to be a memorable experience!  If you haven't purchased tickets for the game, need additional tickets, or want to sell extra tickets - please email Lauren Williams. Lauren will manage requests on a first come basis.

Also, our 4th graders are leaving for Coloma Outdoor Discovery School (CODS) on Wednesday!  CODS is designed for fourth graders and integrates California Content and Common Core Standards. CODS' goal is to celebrate the history, culture, music, and folklore of the California Gold Rush.  I attended for one night last year and thoroughly enjoyed the hike through Gold Country, square dancing, and overall camaraderie with the students. The students will spend two nights there and return on Friday.  Special thanks to our 4th grade teachers who will attend and stay there for the duration of the trip.

Finally, on Saturday, May 5th is Palo Alto's 96thAnnual May Fete Parade!  The theme is Children of the World and Addison students will be given the opportunity to work on a float this week and march in the parade. Addison has been assigned staging spot #25, in the Emerson parking lot behind Pizza My Heart.

Finally, save the date... Addison's Annual Field Day will be on Wednesday, May 30th, from 8:20-11:50am.  If you have not participated in Field Day, it's a time when all students in Kindergarten- 5th grade will spend the day outside on the field, blacktop, and Kindergarten yard playing coordinated games and having fun!  We need a lot of parent volunteers to run the stations so a volunteer sign up will be sent out shortly.

Fondly,
Amanda Boyce
Addison Principal
