Principal's Message, 2/4/18: Dear Addison Families,

Monday, February 5, 2018 - 10:55pm

We had a successful Code Red Drill and the students did a great job following the protocols.  This is a good time to remind all volunteers to please sign in the front office and wear a visitor badge whenever you visit campus so we can ensure the safety of all the adults on campus as well.  Also, students can only be released to the Emergency Contacts listed in your Infinite Campus registration so if you'd like to check or revise the contacts, please contact Nancy or Joy in the front office.

This Wednesday, February 7, is our grade K-2 Ice Skating Party at the Winter Lodge.  The event runs from 5:30-7:30pm.  My husband braved the ice this past week with our 5th grade daughter so now it's my turn to strap on the skates and accompany our 1st grade daughter!  It's always a wonderful opportunity for families and students to connect with each other in a fun, festive outdoor setting.

On Friday, Feb. 16, we have a Staff Professional Development Day so school will be closed. Please note, school will also be closed Monday, Feb 19th in observance of President's Day. The teachers will continue to learn about our Bridges Math Program and how to extend the program for deeper thinking.  We will explore how teachers can take an inquiry based approach to teaching mathematics that involves asking open ended, authentic questions that are grounded in real-world story problems.  The Principals will be leading this Staff Development so I'm looking forward to collaborating and engaging in thoughtful dialogue with teachers from across the district.
