Principal's Message, 11/16/2015

Monday, November 16, 2015 - 9:57pm

Dear Addison Parents and Guardians,

I want to once again thank Lauren Williams and Adrienne Germain for hosting this year's Silent Auction on November 7th.  Many families and staff members commented on the great experience and the function felt very inclusive and welcoming.

I'm very excited to share that the Auction raised $124,000 this year!  These funds are directly spent on field trips, classroom supplies, assemblies, and many other programmatic needs that allow students the opportunities and materials they need to be successful in school. Furthermore, these two "super moms" introduced aFund-a-Need donation campaign directed towards raising money for leveled books that are needed in every classroom.  I'm happy to share that $3,000 was raised to support all readers at Addison School.

This past Friday marked the end of our first trimester.  I want to acknowledge the amazing work of our teaching staff for implementing a new reading curriculum, beginning the second year of a new writing curriculum, and collaborating on the materials, standards, and assessments in math during these past few weeks.  The teachers have taken all these new programs and initiatives in stride and have been stretching themselves to learn and grow from each other.  I've said this many times before but every day I am reminded in small ways how fortunate I am to work with such dedicated, committed, and caring professionals.

With the end of the first trimester comes progress reports (report cards).  All schools in PAUSD have either moved or are moving towards paperless progress reports as they can be viewed online.  Therefore, this year, your child's progress report will be available for you to view through our district's student records system, Infinite Campus.  The first trimester progress report will be available to view on November 20 after 9am.  I will be sending an email blast this week with specific directions to view the progress report but in the meantime, please make sure you can log into the PAUSD Infinite campus portal here. If you are unsure of your user name and password, please email. (

Finally, this past Thursday, our Site Design Planning Committee, School Site Council, and Staff Members attended a two hour meeting where our architect, Lisa Gelfand, shared the conceptual design of a remodeled Addison.  There was a lot of positive energy at the meeting and a great discussion.  These plans will be shared with our anonymous donor's rep on Tuesday, 11/17.  When available, Amanda will update the community on the response and next steps.

Amanda Boyce,
