Principal's Message, 11/11/2018

Monday, November 12, 2018 - 10:58am

Dear Addison Families,

It's hard to believe that our first trimester ended this past Wednesday and Thanksgiving is just around the corner.  Our first set of Progress Reports will be released on Friday, Nov. 16th, at 4pm.  On that day, I will send out directions regarding how to access the Progress Reports online.  If you do not have computer access, let your teacher know so he/she can print a paper copy for you.  Please remember that most students will have "P" marks to indicate that they are progressing towards a certain standard.  If there are any areas of concerns, or "C"s, teachers will share a plan for improvement during your parent teacher conference or Student Success Team (SST) meeting.  The Addison Staff highly values our partnership with families in order to promote growth for all students.

After our Veterans Day holiday on Monday, we will be hosting an information night on Tuesday, Nov. 13 @ 6:30pm in the Library to discuss our ELPAC testing for second language learners.  This will be the same information shared last week at the English Language Learner (ELL) overview but Claudia, our Spanish translator, will be available along with our ELL Specialist, Amanda Gantley.

School is closed the week of Nov. 19-23 for our Thanksgiving Break. I hope you'll find time to enjoy your family and reflect on the many wonderful gifts in our lives. I'm personally grateful to be celebrating my grandmother's 104th birthday on Nov. 13 and HOPE to celebrate a UCLA Football defeat over Stanford at the Rose Bowl at the Nov. 24th game I'll be attending (I know... this statement just decreased my popularity among many parents☺).  This time of year, I'm reminded how lucky I feel to be both a principal and parent in this wonderfully supportive and thoughtful community.  I hope you enjoy both the Veterans Day and Thanksgiving holiday.

Fondly,
Amanda Boyce
Addison Principal
