Construction Update: October 30, 2018

Thursday, November 1, 2018 - 11:17pm

Below is the latest update on construction progress at Addison, as of October 30, 2018.
1. Under-slab plumbing and electrical piping installation is in progress within Building 1, and will continue for another week. Sausal Construction has also begun wall curb and edge forming for the slab on grade. This work will continue over the next two weeks. After the plumbing and electrical work are done, Sausal will also begin placing rock base and reinforcing steel for the slab on grade. This work will start later next week and continue for 3 days. It will involve truck deliveries of rock, and setting up a conveyor belt to distribute the rock throughout the pad area. Sausal has also scheduled the slab on grade pour for either November 15th or 16th. These activities will be very similar to the foundation pour, with some periodic truck traffic entering and leaving the site, but the work itself should not be too noisy.
2. We conducted a meeting with the Palo Alto City Utilities Department this week to coordinate the off-site utility work.  The gas line work on-site being performed by Sausal will begin next week, and shortly thereafter, the City will be ready to make its tie-in to the street, set the meter, make final connections and start up the gas system. We anticipate having gas back on to the site between November 9th and 16th if all g oes as planned.
Additionally, Sausal will begin working on the sewer and fire water connections next week. The permit Is ready, and the traffic control plan shared in last week’s update has been approved by the City. This work will also be scheduled to occur and be completed by Thanksgiving.
3. The AKC portables corrections continue to be made by Williams/Scotsman. Outstanding work includes reworking gutters, ramp paving, countertop installation and final sink connections. The buildings cannot be certified and occupied until the sewer line connection is complete, anticipated to be in two weeks, so that movers and  a Certification walkthrough can been scheduled in late November. Discussions are continuing with the neighbors to develop a plan to landscape and improve the look of the area around the portables and day care area, with the help of the district’s arborist.
