Construction Update: June 5, 2018

Tuesday, June 5, 2018 - 10:30pm

Here is a quick update on the construction progress, and what to expect the next week around the construction site at Addison:

  1. The construction fence has been erected, and hazmat abatement work has begun.  This work should be complete by early next week. Materials are being removed within local containment, and pose no general hazard to workers or students. Air monitoring personnel are on site full time during this work to ensure air quality is maintained.
  2. Given the progress of the abatement contractor, it looks like demolition of the building will begin as early as the middle of next week. I have requested a demo plan from the contractor to describe how they intend to physically demo the building, and what noise and dust protection measures they’ll employ to mitigate any impact to campers and neighbors.
  3. Tree removal will begin tomorrow, and continue through Thursday. The contractor will begin tomorrow with the large trees along Lincoln where the Kids Club will be located, and then continue on Thursday to the smaller trees on campus that are within the construction area. This will be a two day activity.
  4. The contractor will also begin working on site demolition (asphalt paving) and utility installation for the new Kids Club, which will continue for the next couple of weeks.
  5. The Day Care portables design has been submitted to DSA for approval by the architect.  Once approved by DSA, Williams/Scotsman can begin assembling the portables in their plant. This work is anticipated to take 3 to 4 weeks.
