Principal's Update - September 2, 2020
Dear Addison Families,
Thank you to all of our families that were able to attend our Principal/ PTA/ PiE Back to School Night presentation last night! If you were not able to attend and would like to watch the recorded presentation, please click here. Additionally, the powerpoint presentation from last night can be found here. One of our panelists was our Family Engagement Specialist, Claudia Quiroga-Cortez. She is an advocate and support for all families and speaks Spanish so feel free to contact her anytime at email@example.com.
One of the goals shared at the presentation was to teach our students about digital citizenship. For many of our students, online school is offering them the first opportunity to use a variety of technology platforms. Each platform has securities and risks associated and we are teaching students how to responsibly use these resources. For example, the PAUSD Google Suite allows students to create and share content with their peers. Unfortunately, we've had a few cases of students sharing inappropriate content with select students since school closure last March. One of the most important guidelines we need students to understand is that when they are using PAUSD platforms, they should only be creating and sharing content directed by their teacher. This week, please review the PAUSD Technology Use Agreement with your child(ren) and as a family, sign and submit as a receipt of acknowledgement. Please complete by Monday, September 7th, 2020.
Also, during this long upcoming weekend, please take a few minutes to review the 2020-21 Addison Handbook. The Handbook provides an overview of processes and support personnel for a variety of programs. Please note that some of the items will be relevant to when students return to school in person but still gives a lot of important information related to school practices and PAUSD Board Policies.
At Back to School Night, families gained insights into the many ways that our PTA and PiE supports valuable learning experiences and opportunities at Addison. At the presentation, representatives discussed the importance of donating to these organizations in order to maintain current programs and services. Each non-profit has a recommended donation amount per child but the most important thing is donating whatever amount is comfortable for your family so we have 100% participation at Addison. In order to donate to PTA, please click here and to make your annual donation to PiE please click here.
