Principal's Update November 10, 2020
Dear Addison Families,
I wanted to send my Principal's Update early as tomorrow we are honoring the Veteran's Day Holiday so there will be NO SCHOOL for both Hybrid and FDL students. School will resume on Thursday, Nov. 12. Additionally, our Thanksgiving Break is quickly approaching so I wanted to remind families that PAUSD will be closed from Nov. 23-27.
This week, we welcomed our final group of Hybrid students back on campus which includes 4th and 5th grade students. We feel good about reaching this milestone of assigning students to both Hybrid and FDL classes and staffing accordingly. Students who are coming to campus continue to do a great job following health and safety protocols including wearing masks at all times (with the exception of eating and drinking) and staying in their assigned cohort zones. With the quickly changing weather, I also shared a plan for rainy days with our Hybrid staff where students will continue to eat outdoors under the overhangs and then return to their classroom for quiet play.
I've had questions about the Hybrid Wednesday schedule as it alternates between A/B cohorts and we need to account for holidays. Please see attached A/B cohort calendar and if you're ever unsure regarding what group is coming to school on a Wednesday, you can see the scheduled cohort in the calendar section of our Addison website.
We still need support from all Hybrid families with completing the online health screener by 8am each day that a student attends school. In order to do so, parents will need to know their unique username and password for their Parent Rapid ID account. See here for directions on how to access your Parent Rapid ID account. See here for directions on how to complete the online screener through Parent Square.
Finally, I wanted to share a great parent resource that the District created regarding Supporting Learning at Home. To some extent, ALL of our families are supporting learning at home as Hybrid students are only coming to campus 2-3 days per week. This website addresses important factors in online learning including fostering independence and social/emotional learning which is so crucial right now. I hope you find it helpful.
