Principal's Update April 11, 2022

Welcome Back and Updates!
Dear Addison Families,

Welcome back!  Hope everyone had a wonderful Spring Break.  This morning our entire school (including Kindergarten for the first time!) met in the MP Room for our school wide assembly.  This is the first time in decades that our entire school, staff and students,  could gather in an indoor space so it was very exciting to start our day together.  I made many announcements so feel free to ask your child(ren) about the new Kindergarten lunch routine, Inquiry Fair, Walk and Roll Week, April Lifeskill, and many other events planned from now until the end of school.  Additionally, I shared with students that a new gate has been installed on Addison Ave. as an added safety measure.  Therefore, since our campus is still closed to parents from 2:20-2:45pm, I'm requesting that families from rooms 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6 please wait outside the black gate at 2:20pm dismissal.  Once again, families are welcome on campus before school from 7:55am- 8:15am and after our intermediate students are dismissed at 2:45pm.

As a staff, there is a lot to plan from now until our last day of school on June 2nd.  One important task is we build classes in the Spring for the following school year.  Addison has always offered the option for parents/guardians to fill out a Parent Input form for the next school year.  The staff makes decisions regarding your child(ren)'s future placement that reflect our best judgment as to where children will be the most successful in a balanced class.  While we do not accept requests for specific teachers, you are welcome to share with us any information you feel would be helpful in determining your child's placement next year.  Not all requests will be granted but they will be considered.

If you are interested in completing an Optional Parent Input form, it must be turned in to the office by Friday, April 22, in order to be considered.  Hard copies are available in the front office or feel free to email Nancy if you prefer an electronic copy:

Thank you,
Amanda Boyce
